I thought an updates page would make life simple for those of you who are checking back periodically.  I'm going to TRY to keep this page updated weekly with what's been done, any changes to basic plans that have been made, and what have you.

What's New?

04/13/09- So, the overhaul has started, and every page has been updated, at least once.  When I get back from my errands today, I'm going to call all of the local hotels and motels and bed and breakfasts to get a count on current availability.  Again, there's a race track right around the corner, so that may well be a race weekend.  If you wait to reserve a room until the 1st of August, you may well be staying in Torrington, or Great Barrington instead of Sharon, or Lakeville.  (For those of you outside the area, or new to the area, the first two are 30 minutes away from the wedding, Sharon is the town the wedding is in, and Lakeville is the next town over.)  Also price IS a factor for some people.  I am working on cheaper accomodations, however, they all involve shared bathrooms and one invovles bringing your own sheets for a twin bed.  See ya soon!

04/12/09 -Yeah, hardly weekly, I know, but I HAVE been updating and just forgot to come here and tell you!  So, in effort to make finding a cheaper alternative easier, I have found some Ren. costumes.  Please visit the Outfits page for the links, but for those who don't have, or don't want to spend much, there are now alternatives for less than $50 ($26 for the women, and $33 for the men) that will work.  They are costumes and not outfits, however.

I've also been told that I goofed.  I'm going to make excuses, so there!  I had 4 different people proof-read and NO ONE caught it!  There is no time for the wedding!  Sorry.  If you're here, you may have already noticed that it is at 3pm.  PLEASE arrive well in advance.  I'm working on parking options as we speak.

Some lovely person has also pointed out that the website is full of spelling errors.  Tough.  I'm trying here folks!  :-p

As Lime Rock Race Track is right around the corner, I would advise looking for places to stay sooner, rather than waiting.  Very soon I'll have a list of places you can stay on here (probably a different page) but if you use the online version of the yellow pages, you'll soon find a few hotels, motels and bed and breakfasts in the area.  If you don't mind a little drive on the day of the wedding, there are loads in Torrington, CT and Great Barrington, MA.

Also, I'm redoing the website so the pictures on here are of either things related to the wedding (flowers, outfits/costumes, etc) or the animals at the farm, or (gasp, shock horror!) one of Marc and myself, provided I can get him to sit still!

Check back soon and Happy Easter!

03/07/09- Ok, so invites are starting to go out, and so far, before I've gotten responses, I'm being asked about the under 15 rule.

First, it's a farm.

Second, it's a farm, and third, it's a farm.

I'll elaborate, though I could have summed it up with just one "it's a farm". :-)

First, there WILL be alcohol served, and there ARE animals around.  There are 7 horses, three of which will likely be pregnant and that makes them rather, um, protective of their space.  One is a stallion.  I don't think that needs elaboration.

Second, there's electric fencing.  That's really a "nuff said" type of deal.  The voltage around the cow's fields is high enough that unless you are a sizable person, it could be interesting.  I'm not trying to scare you off, but a 4 year old child might get hurt.  Throw into the mix that it's right off a road... well.  It's really a safety reason that I ask you to keep your children at home.  I would like to have only fond memories of this day, with no ambulances.  For the love of the wee ones, keep them home.

Third, it's a farm.  There are horseys and sheepers and pigglets and moo-cows and before you know what's happend, we have a "where's so-and-so" search party.

Also, through my teaching experience, I've found that a 16 year old child will heed the "don't go over there" rule, where as a 14 year old needs to know why, and doesn't think the fence is REALLY on.  Let's not.

Besides, this is your chance to go out, have fun, and be very silly WITHOUT your kids taking pictures. Well, without your kids entirely.

HOWEVER, I know that not everyone has a baby-sitter who will mind the kids for a weekend, so I will make one concession.  For any of you staying the weekend, I will be around on sunday, for most of the day, and I will happily take children while you explore the area, or just show you and your little ones around the farm. There may also be some time in the afternoon on friday for a quick tour.  I'll have to check with work to let you know closer to the date on that one.

As always, if you have any questions, please give us a call.  596-4060
